624 is ready to move!

By Members Only

Crews were on hand in late March to prep Nickel Plate Road no. 624 for shipment. The locomotive’s major components, including the air pumps, smokebox door, smokestack, cab and other appliances have been removed to make the locomotive boiler lighter for shipment. It will be further disassembled and shipped to its future restoration site later this summer.

Stay tuned for an update and the complete story in the Spring issue of Short Lines.
