LAST WEEKENDS SHOP ACTIVITY

Progress continues to be made on various projects including the 765. Several arch bricks were made for the engine. Otherwise, the accumulation of supplies for operations this coming year have been ongoing.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES

I plan to continue with making some arch brick.  Several of the rods appear to be stained and the plan is to do some polishing.  Otherwise, there is work on the cabooses mostly involved with cleaning.  Jim got started wire brushing the 141’s trucks to prepare them for painting and got an assist from Brian.  This job is about ½ done, so if you want to get in on the action there is a great opportunity to chip in.

SAFETY SENSE

The Federal Railroad Administration has issued a emergency order that requires all people in a railroad facility (read our shop and grounds) to wear a face covering.  If you would like to read the order you can find it at:

Although in recent days the number of COVID infections has come down signs indicate that it is more than able to roar back as it has in the past.  Vaccines have begun to have an effect but COVID variants make the undo some of the progress.  The less disease the lower the number of variants and the less chance of sickness or death.  Possibly by May or possibly later in the summer this rule will be relaxed but at this time please plan on following the mask order.  Failure to do so at the shop may result in large fines. Follow the order or wait for its expiration to come out.
