For the first time in five years, we are making a replica Lima Locomotive Works builders plate, exactly the same as the ones on the 765 available, to you, our members.
We have offered these three times before. The first time, 1978, they were cast with the wrong date – August 1944. On the second foundry order in 1982, we corrected the date to September 1944. Most recently in 2014, after waiting 25 years, we ordered them again from a different foundry.
These are available to our crew, members, and friends from a one-time foundry order planned for the coming months. We have the same foundry lined up that cast the last order. Considering how many brass foundries have vanished in recent decades because of environmental reasons, and how few are left that will do small orders, it is surprising that we can get them for the same price as 2014.
$100 for bare brass
$120 painted & polished
$140 painted & polished and shipped direct to you as soon as ready
The Lima plates will come drilled with four mounting holes and finished in natural brass. They will be the same size and shape as those on the locomotive. In fact they will be made using the very same pattern. They are priced at $100 each in natural brass. If you want yours painted red like the photo above, add $20. Delivery will be to the Casad Shop at a date and time TBD. If you want one shipped direct to you, add $20 for a USPS flat rate box, insured.
Any profits will go towards producing replacement builders and information plates for the Society’s PLYMOUTH diesel, a long- promised dedication plaque for the NKP Bay Window caboose (as requested by the donor, Jim Cantor), or for passenger car expenses. Two plates from this order will be held back for the 765. Two years ago, we presented one to Wick Moorman, formerly of NS and at that time Amtrak. More recently we just presented the two on the locomotive to our friends at METRA.
Because all of these are up-front costs, we are asking for full payment at time of ordering. Make check or money order payable to Wayne York and mail them to Wayne York, PO Box 654, Jackson Center, OH 45334
