Progress continues to happen on the open air car project. At the time of this email the weather is beautiful and that should translate into favorable conditions as we continue work outside.
Jim Donahue and Steve Winicker were able to sandblast the entire interior of the car this past week while I continued to refasten the spark deflectors back down to the subframe. About 1/2 of the spark deflector work is done.
Worklist items this week:
- Continue cleaning all the blasting media and remaining dirt out of the car.
- Begin prepwork to interior in preparation for primer and paint.
- Square patched to be made and riveted over access holes made to check for asbestos before the Amtrak disposition.
- Floor pans (spark deflectors) continue to be reattached.
I am planning on working this Thursday and possibly Friday (the 14th and 15th) on the car. Contact me if you are free or interested in helping on these days.
If anyone is interested in leading an effort to tackle the outside list of projects needed to ready the car as the weather improves let me know and I can get you started in that direction.
Stay Safe and enjoy the improving weather!
